
The Section of Epidemiology at the Institute for Research and Development serves as a center of research excellence. Our research spans a wide range of areas, including twin studies, mental health, ethics, disaster management, nutrition, and evidence-based policymaking.
Anchored by our core pillars—Research, Ethics, and Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI)—we are dedicated to advancing knowledge, promoting ethical research practices, and empowering communities through impactful research.
In addition to driving innovative research, we are committed to capacity building. Through workshops, seminars, and conferences, we strive to cultivate and support the next generation of researchers, fostering a culture of collaboration and learning.

The genetic laboratory is well equipped to perform a range of genetic and molecular biology related multidisciplinary research. We have established a unique biobank containing DNA and serum, of twins and singletons. We collaborate both nationally and internationally with well-established research institutes to carry out high quality result oriented research in the country.

Research ethics provides guidelines for the responsible conduct of research. In addition, it educates and monitors scientists conducting research to ensure a high ethical standard.
