Introduction
The Research Assistant Course is designed to meet the growing need for skilled and ethically responsible personnel in Sri Lanka’s expanding health and social science research sectors. With government and private institutions conducting an increasing number of studies, there is a clear demand for individuals who possess both foundational theoretical knowledge and practical research competencies. This course provides comprehensive training in research along with hands-on experience in key research procedures.
The Course
Objectives
To prepare competent and well-trained research assistants by providing structured theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on training across all key areas of the research process.
To build learners’ confidence and capability to support real research projects through training in data handling, ethical practices, communication, documentation, and basic analysis
Program structure
This course is delivered as a blended learning model across approximately 375 notional hours, integrating both Live sessions and Self-paced learning components. Learners will progress through seven structured modules + a final mini research project, including:
