Bioethics Winter Program 2025 – Strengthening Ethical Leadership in Health and Research

The Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL) proudly announces the Bioethics Winter Program 2025, to be held from 15–19 December 2025 in Karachi, Pakistan. This intensive five-day programme is designed to build capacity, enhance ethical practice, and promote responsible decision-making across healthcare, academia, and research sectors in the region.

The Bioethics Winter Program brings together global and regional experts to explore contemporary ethical challenges, including clinical and research ethics, global health inequities, the role of artificial intelligence in medicine, and ethics of care for vulnerable populations. The programme offers interactive discussions, thematic lectures, and collaborative learning sessions intended for students, researchers, healthcare professionals, and academics.

PILL is honoured to invite Professor Athula Sumathipala to deliver a session titled “Research, Responsibility and Regulation: Ethical Challenges in Global Health Research.” His extensive contributions to global health ethics and longstanding academic leadership will greatly enrich discussions at the Winter Program. In addition, he will also conduct another session titled “Genetics and Governance.”

The initiative is organised in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, Yale University; Iqra University; University College London; the University of Manchester; and the Manchester Global Foundation, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening ethical standards through international cooperation and multidisciplinary engagement.
