Prof. Athula Sumathipala, Director of the Institute for Research and Development in Health and Social Care (IRD), Sri Lanka, and Secretary-General and President-elect of the International Society for Twin Studies, has been invited to the Global Forum on Bioethics in Research (GFBR), to be held on November 18–19, 2025, in Accra, Ghana.
This year’s forum, themed “Reimagining research partnerships: equity, power and resilience,” aims to promote ethical and equitable global research collaborations.
GFBR is co-hosted by the World Health Organization’s Ghana Country Office and the University of Ghana, with support from international research funders including Wellcome (UK), the UK Medical Research Council, the US National Institutes of Health, and the South African Medical Research Council.
Prof. Sumathipala’s participation reflects his long-standing contributions to global health, bioethics, and research leadership, continuing his active engagement in international discussions on research ethics and equitable partnerships.
