In line with National Science Week 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Development in Health and Social Care (IRD), successfully held the special programme “Ethics, Governance & Research Integrity: A Core Component of Scientific Research” yesterday (13 November 2025) at Waters Edge, Battaramulla.
Conducted under the national theme “Building Trust, Driving Transformation: Science for Sri Lanka’s Tomorrow” and the tagline “Science You Can Trust, A Future We Can Build,” the event focused on strengthening ethical and responsible research practices, addressing emerging challenges in AI, data and genetics, and highlighting the importance of community engagement in shaping sustainable scientific progress.
A distinguished panel of experts contributed as resource persons, including Prof. Athula Sumathipala, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, Prof. Siril Wijesundara, Prof. Chandani Wanigatunga, Dr. Buddhika Fernando, Dr. Asiri Hewamalage, and Ms. Oshini Jayasinghe, whose insights enriched the discussions and provided valuable guidance for future scientific advancement.
